Intramural
Every player starts here. Games and practices at Masconomet and the tri-town elementary schools, with enthusiastic participation at every level of ability.
Who it’s for
Any child in grades 1 through 8 who lives in Boxford, Middleton, or Topsfield. There is no tryout and no cut — every registered player is placed on a team.
Players who make a travel team may have the option to opt out of intramurals.
What a season looks like
Teams practice once a week and play a weekly game, almost always on weekends.
Teams are formed by grade level and gender, and built to be evenly matched rather than stacked. Scoreboards and game clocks are used for grades 5 through 8. The league does not post standings. Coaches are parent volunteers.
A T-shirt is provided for every intramural player.
When each grade plays
These days and times are subject to change, based on what the schools have available.

| 1 & 2 | Elementary schools. Girls Thursday evenings, boys Friday evenings. |
| 3 & 4 | Elementary schools. Boys Tuesday evenings, girls Wednesday evenings. Extra time is also reserved for girls on Saturdays and boys on Sundays. |
| 5 & 6 | At Masco. Boys Saturdays, girls Sundays. Referees provided. |
| 7 & 8 | At Masco, and possibly Essex Tech. Games Friday evenings. Referees provided. |
Tournaments
Some age groups also play an in-season or end-of-season tournament. Your coach will let you know if your team’s grade has one.
Registration
One registration covers the season. Sign-ups open in early fall and close before the season starts — late registration costs more and placement isn’t guaranteed once rosters are set.
Late registration cannot be guaranteed a place on a team.

Coach a team
Every intramural team is coached by a parent volunteer, and every season the league needs more coaches than it has. No coaching experience needed — just willingness and one evening a week. You can volunteer when you register your player.
